Doula Services Covered by Medicaid:
If you are a NYS Medicaid Member, you are eligible to receive doula services with each pregnancy at no cost.
You can receive up to 8 doula visits before and after your pregnancy and support during childbirth - no matter how your pregnancy ends.
You can receive doula services up to 12 months after your pregnancy ends.
What this means for you - Damselfly Doula can give you care during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. The most intensive in person care she gives would be birth, and postpartum care. Damselfly Doula waits till she has completed your care to submit to Medicaid for reimbursement of care received, which means you don't have to do any paperwork. You can make use of my care for only pregnancy, only birth, or only postpartum care, (or all 3) ...you get to decide where to use my time. Damselfly Doula fees for care are higher than some, and less than others...if you shop around you can potentially get more care from a doula that charges less for her services giving you an opportunity to receive additional services. Damselfly Doula Medicaid Services include a prenatal in home visit, the birth, and one postpartum visit...although there is room for a small number of postpartum hours of care for you, your household, and the new baby. I also do prenatal FaceTime visits, and have unlimited text messaging. I consider the education I give to be the biggest component to your success, and I want your partner to be a part of this process so that you can get the most support and advocacy possible. Education takes time and effort on both sides, and I hope to attract clients that are willing to be educated, eat well, exercise, and put in the work to have the best birth experience possible. I can't ask for any additional fees but, I am happy to take a tip, and/or good reviews on Yelp and Google if you feel my services are worthy of additional appreciation. My love language is Words of Affirmation, and Acts of Service, so if you really want me to feel great about how I helped you - sincerely tell me about it, often. : ) I asked a previous client what she wished other women would know about my care, and she responded by saying that she wished she'd known in advance that she would get such individualized care, and how different that is from the normal medical care she has received. I would like to add to that how I really care about my clients, they aren't just a number, and I don't engage in "factory" care. I also do not accept more clients than I can excellently care for, so that each mother feels like I gave her my best. That having been said, please start early so that I have room for you in my calendar.
Some insurance companies that are NOT affiliated with Medicaid will cover some doula fees, if you do not have Medicaid, check with your insurance to see if they cover doulas.
Damselfly Doula is currently a provider with Medicaid subcontractors such as MVP, HighMark, Excellus, and I am continuing to apply to be a provider for more so check with me to see if I am able to take your specific Medicaid insurance.
